Dr. Andre Fiala and Dr. Karla Kaun collaborated to act as Special Guest Editors for the journal Learning & Memory on a special issue on the mushroom body to celebrate 25 years of progress since the initial special issue on the mushroom body was edited by Dr. Martin Heisenberg. This special issue was kicked off by an editorial entitled "What do the mushroom bodies do for the insect brain? 25 years of progress" by Fiala & Kaun that summarizes some of the progress in the field and poses some questions the field may tackle next.
