Congratulations to Kavin Nunez, Jamie Catalano and Kristin Scaplen for publication of two new papers that will be in the new edition of Drosophila Neurobiology: A Laboratory Manual and are now available online at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory Protocols.
The first paper entitled "Ethanol Behavioral Responses in Drosophila" is a brief review of methods used to track fly ethanol-induced behaviors and is a great introduction to the second paper entitled "Methods for Exploring the Circuit Basis of Ethanol-Induced Changes in Drosophila Group Locomotor Activity". This paper includes a detailed protocol of how to track flies using our FlyGrAM tracking system first described in Scaplen, Mei et al (2019).
If you are interested in building and using a tracking system similar to this in your lab or class, all of the resources are freely available online at the KaunLab Github and Dr. Kaun is happy to share her Canvas site. Feel free to contact us for advice as we are happy to help!
